It has always perplexed me that some people want to take this statement out of context and generalize it. John, as well as the other eleven (I'm leaving out Judas) were Jewish. Paul was Jewish. Jesus promised the eleven (again I'm leaving out Judas) that they would rule with Him in His kingdom, over the twelve tribes. Those aren't tribes of Gentiles. The entire notion is insane.
Right!!! If Paul didn't equalize us as individuals under grace (neither Jew nor Gentile) we would probably already have some arrangement that the leaders in the church would have to be Jewish by ethnicity when possible.
I joined this platform to follow Stuart, but now my marketing team wants me to publish SEO focused articles here. If you want to be bored to tears follow me and read what I write about Flanges.
My first article was about saving in the booms because thee busts always come so I was just informed that it failed for SEO purposes. My Marketing Manager thinks I work for her. I give up! I am just going to keep posting on your articles and fighting with Ken if I can something to disagree with him on. (He is a genius and I am a lightweight so it probably won't end well.)
It's really sad when some of the worst ideas are pulled from scripture. I was speaking about this with my wife this morning. Since the bible addresses every problem with human nature and they are so varied offering the solution to the wrong problem from scripture usually goes against God's will. The one called to volunteer can hear Satan whisper "The worker is worthy their wage." The one called to go full time into the ministry and have it become also his vocation will be told "Freely given, freely give." And if you have some sick anti-semetic views this verse will feel like cool salve to your soul when taken out of context.
Excellent post.
