Thank you for your comment Chuck. You are so right. No need to interpret a biblical text allegorically in cases where the plain, literal meaning is so clear. Happy Resurrection Day my friend.
Good stuff. I still feel like you could spend a little more time setting up their arguments before knocking them down, but that might be a throw back to my time in bible college. You are probably writing for the general public which is a step up from preaching to us. I should just be grateful and go back to selling flanges.
Thanks for reading my posts. I try to make them relatively quickly readable since I know people are so very busy these days. Nonetheless, I will certainly give thought to your suggestion. And, by the way, no need to go back to selling flanges. Got a kick out ot that one!
As we know the House of Israel (Northern Tribes of the divided Kingdom post Solomon) was divorced by Yah (Jer 3:8; Hosea 2:2). We even see in Hosea God calls her Not My People, but promises she will once again be called My People (Hosea 1:10; 2:23).
Thus we have an identity crisis. Who are these Lost Sheep of the House of Israel? (We are not asking about Jews - the Southern Kingdom - House of Judah.) Paul reminds us of the Hosea promise in Romans (Romans 9:25–26).
In Romans 11:25 regarding the "fullness of the Gentiles" circles back through Hosea to Genesis 48:19 were Jacob prophesies that Ephraim’s (the Northern Kingdom's) descendants would become a "multitude of nations".
"And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: 'The Deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.'" ( Romans 11:26)
Terrific. Allegorical teaching about the Word will lead many to hell!
