Oh vey! Just when I thought I was in, they pulled me back…. out? I so wanted to be Jewish. All the fiddling on the roof and mass persecution for millennia after millennia (oh wait, that ain’t a good thing.) The ability to buy at wholesale and sale at retail. Dang Jewishness escapes me again! Can I still get a falafel or play with little spinning thing in December? All joking aside the nation of Israel as a people are the biggest proof of God’s existence for some and them being reconstituted in their promised homeland after 1900 years of non assimilation is pretty miraculous. I think your arguments about Romans and Paul’s intent hold water and the rest of you can trust me. I have a bachelor’s degree.

Thank you Jeff. Yes indeed… both human sinfulness, and divine grace, are clearly made evident through the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I'm not sure about Israel being the best proof of God's existence, although I'm not going to argue the point. However, I am convinced that the multi-thousand year old systematic attempts to oppress and kill the Jewish people are the best proof that God selected them as his first and best group of representatives. Nothing else in my mind can explain the pervasive and permanent hatred by the world system(s).

So true, and so well said Ken. Hard to miss the connection between divine election and satanic persecution.

I remember reading this passage in Romans as a young believer and being cut to the heart. It never made me think I was a Jew, but it did give me a connection to Jewish believers. Over the years, this scripture has become one of my favorites to quote...it showed me that the Lord desires my heart be circumcised through the power of His Spirit, a sign that I belong to Him.
